The salon series of kits is based around Iwata compressors and air brushes - "the Mercedes"
of air brush equipment. Despite the premium brand, you'll find these Tanning Store kits are more competitive or
cheaper than offerings from competing sites selling less reputable goods. These kits are configured based
on the more demanding needs of the salon setting. Therefore, each compressor in this series is a piston compressor with ultraquiet operation.

High Performance Spray Tanning Systems

You may have heard of HVLP (High Volume Low Pressure) systems that are finding their way into the airbrush tanning market. Their stated advantage is
reduced time to apply tanning solution to the client. Reduced application time means faster turnaround and the ability to handle more clients in your busy season. The Tanning Store
provides two solutions for high volume client salons.
First, there are airbrush alternatives to HVLP -- using a high volume pistol grip airbrush. The Paasche Quick Application Spray Gun and the
premium Eclipse G6 from Iwata are available with the Salon Workstation Kit and the Salon Pro Studio Kit shown below. They can match the HVLP
advantage in reduced application time while maintaining a quiet operating environment. Basically, they spray a 3-5 inch pattern versus
a typical 2 inch or less airbrush pattern. This results in reduced application time. And you have the flexibility
of still using an airbrush for fine touch-up issues or for other cosmetic applications such as make-up, nails, and temporary tatoos.

High Performance HVLP Spray Tanning Systems
|
|
In addition to the high performance airbrush series, The Tanning Store also also offers HVLP spray tanning systems. Briefly, hvlp systems come in two classes - turbine systems and hvlp conversion systems.
HVLP turbine systems are driven by turbine motors (essentially vacuum cleaner type motors) rather than compressors. HVLP conversion systems have historically required larger compressors and have not been used in spray tanning.
However, recent advances in gun design have enabled the development of hvlp spray guns that require as little as 1.8 CFM (cubic feet per minute) and compressors in the 3/4 horse power range.
A high volume of air is used to atomize the spray at a very low pressure, usually well under 10 PSI, resulting in less overspray and bounceback. Excellent atomization and a wide spray pattern
reduces application time without sacrificing quality. First generation HVLP tanning systems tend to be quite loud however, similar to a shop vacuum cleaner. They also were overpowered for the application, employing too many turbine stages or using too large a needle/nozzle.
However, the AccuSpray HVLP turbine unit shown below is quiet and employs needle/nozzles more appropriate to spray tanning.
The UltraMist 3G, derives from HVLP conversion technology, and has many advantages for spray tanning. In fact
it lies in the LVLP subset of HVLP that has the softest spray and the least overspray and material usage -- all in the quietest hvlp type unit on the market.
